Fiber Update- August 21, 2018
2:36PM August 21, 2018
This week we have expanded the area where we are doing pre-drop surveys. Members who had expressed interest in part of the Pleasant Grove zone should have received emails and phone calls to set up their surveys. In the next 2-3 weeks, members in the Cortland zone will receive the same messages and then will also be able to set up their pre-drop survey appointments. After that- the Little York West zone. Mainline construction is well underway in that area.
In September, we have two new contractor crews who will begin to do drop construction (bringing the fiber from the pole to the house). We are very excited about the progress we have made so far, and will continue to do everything we can to bring high speed internet to all our members as soon as possible!
Here are some things you can do to help streamline the account set up/installation process:
- Register on www.jacksonconnect.net. Once registration is complete, a service agreement will be emailed to you for electronic signature. This means that when your service is ready to be installed, you won't need to complete the paperwork- it'll already be done!
- Complete the survey questions during registration. This allows the Fiber Services Coordinators to know if you need any additional forms completed prior to installation- i.e. a Landowner-Landlord Approval form. Once your service is ready to be installed, we don't want there to be any additional delays.
- Make sure the Member is registering on the website. In order for the fiber-optic internet service to be in your name, you have to be a current Jackson County REMC electric member (or have a signed Landowner-Landlord Agreement, in the case of renters). If your name is not on the account, please have the member of record register. This way, the service agreement is signed by the correct person, and it doesn't have to be re-done.
If you have any issues with registering or any questions regarding the website, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
